Sorry

Hello blog. I am sorry for the neglect. Since getting back from my trip I have been sooooooo busy working at my new job at Movenpick Ice Cream :D the only store in Melbourne! It has been pretty full on but I have made lots of new friends, not just the ones who work in the store but others from surrounding stores in the shopping centre, one of which gave me a yummy smelling soap from Lush yesterday. So an update:

1. Sydney was great! I couldn't fault one thing about it I just loved the time there.

2. MUST's latest show [working title] was fabulously interesting and creative.

3. A couple of my band mates and I are playing a low-key gig on the weekend.

4. I will soon be the proud owner of a 2006 Nissan Tiida

5. I AM GOING TO MELBOURNE SPRING FASHION WEEK! Or at least the Wednesday night. Needless to say I have already bought a dress from asos and I'm waiting for my next pay check to buy shoes. This coming event has inspired me to get blogging again!

So whilst I'm busy using my day off to look up fashion pics, buy a new public transport card and prepare for my second semester of Uni, here is a cool photo of Frankenstain nails that I found on another blog! (I am currently trying to recreate them on my own nails right now)

SYDNEY

I'm here! So far Nick and I have walked along the harbour at night, seen Terminus (an Irish play), bopped along at Jersey Boys, visited Chinatown, wandered through Westfield, went shopping at the Paddington Markets and sat on the green grass of Hyde Park whilst enjoying the sun and Starbucks. And there is so much more to see!

Photos of my purchases at the market and other things.

100

Happy 100 blog posts life and lights!

Time to celebrate with some photos. First are images of art pieces by Marcel Duchamp, a highly influential surrealist of the modern times. Today we (Nick and I) went on a trip to Brisbane to view the Surrealism exhibition at the GoMA. We were totally blown away by what we saw as well as the history behind the Da Da and Surrealist movements from the 1920s to the 1960s. You may recognise the urinal piece which was created by Marcel. His idea was that he could get any object used in every day life and create a piece of art by placing it in a different place and calling it 'art'. We got to view the wine bottle holder in this exhibition.

Next some photography by possibly my favourite photographer, Bec Parsons. Just some random photos of pretty dresses and fun girls.

Lastly, a few tourist shots of my trip in Queensland so far. Haven't stopped since we landed so plan on spending the next few days relaxing and perhaps hitting up the beach.

Stay tuned for photos of my new pink hair fun!

Fly

I thought that I should start off this entry with a cool photo of some bangin' girls by Liz Ham that I discovered in the most recent edition of Yen.

I also thought I should let know it's only two sleeps until I'm jetting off for two weeks! Following a hard two weeks at my new job in an ice cream shop I've mustered up enough moolah to definitely relax and hit the markets of the Gold Coast and Sydney. I'm very Very VERY excited!

Stay posted for photos etc. of my trip!!!

BIRTHDAY!

Happy Birthday to me! (On Sunday) I've had a lovely long weekend celebrating my birthday with friends and family. I was treated last night to a movie with my boyfriend and a massage today. The massage was not a fantastic experience. My gifts included clothing, including a beautifully snuggly and warm knitted All About Eve jumper (see below), a book on the history of American Burlesque, a 'Little Miss Sunshine' book, a photoframe and a bottle of original Irish Cream Baileys. YUM! Hope you have all enjoyed your Queen's Birthday weekend as much as I have!

So this weekend I look forward to putting on my beautiful navy blue velvet dress from Forever New and letting my hair down as we party all night long! I'm very excited and very much looking forward to this trip. As the day gets closer I'll give you an insight as to what Nick and I will be up to on our trip. And definitely keep posted for some nice photographs of the beaches and the cities.

Lear

Wow. Last night I had the privilege of attending the opening night of Monash University Shakespeare company's performance of King Lear...it was amazing! Not only was the performance space set up in the way of a "catwalk" but it featured a large mask of which the mouth became the entrance and exit of the characters. The lighting design was fantastic, the music made it intriguing and the special effects had me squirming in my seat (blood, vomit, gunshots!). It was also performed in a commedia del'arte style which only made it even greater. I must commend each and every performer and crew member for their fantastic work, I couldn't keep my eyes off the stage. I must of course, continuing on from my previous blog entry, mention my uber talented boyfriend, Nick. I've been able to see how his mind works (reading lines, finding costumes etc.) in each production and then seeing it all come together on stage, it blows me away every time. The character Edmund does not have a huge part in the script but Nick managed to create such a strong prescence on stage he was unmissable. I was also very impressed, as funny as it seems, at his ending scene where he was shot, to quote my mother, "He looked like he was actually dying! It was scary!" . Congratualtions to everyone involved. If you have read this and live in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne I definitely reccomend you see this performance, and every performance by Monash Univeristy, they are just superb! I can't wait to see it again next week! Now off to book a seat to see Koonung's rendition of The Threepenny Opera!

Talent

I would like to take this opportunity to share with you how amazingly proud I am of the talented people I know. Last week I was asked to "guest judge" my old high school's junior talent quest competition (totally scored a box of choocies oh yeah!) and I was astounded. Although I wasn't much of a special guest for them as many fo them did not know who I was (feel so old) it was fun and I was proud. MY darling friend Alexandra sang 'Love Song' and did it perfectly! Did not miss a note! I'm very proud of her efforts and feel honoured to have performed with her and know her. Elly and Aaron did a fantastic rendition of 'Save Tonight' which won them the competition! There were young girls who could practically bend themselves in half (gymnasts), girls who could do some sweet shufflin' and beautiful pianists and vocalists. I was alo impressed at the evening concert wehn I had the chance to see the senior winners. Alan and Matt did the coolest medley of well-known and original songs and another group had me in stitches (laughing) with their performance to 'Fat Bottom Girls'. It really makes me miss high school very much.

I'd also like to show you some headshot photos my fantastically talented friend Gemma. She is a photographer/journalist/singer/actrss/dancer/comedian/model/miranda-kerr-look-a-like. Mostly she writes of fashion. CHECK OUT HER BLOG! http://thegirl-and-thesea.blogspot.com/

I had walked past this rendered wall on the way to uni the other day so we setup there and everything was perfect! The lighting, the colours, the shades...but it was windy which made it extra fun...not. But for once it wasn't raining! HOORAY! Anyway here are the photos. Ciao!

Cardboard

I'M ON LOOKBOOK SO HYPE ME! [Elly.P] That is a photo of my beautiful new skirt...SURPRISE! They're actually pants! I love them already especially since we're reaching the colder months and the temperature has dropped rapidly.

So after trying to explain what foam core was to my boyfriend I stumbled accross www.cardboardsafari.com and I must own something from it soon! It got me thinking about the large blank wall I have in my room and how I just cannot think of something to put on it. Now I have a new interior project! I think that I will stick with my theme in that section of the room being black, white and red (any shade). I'd been searching for cool wallpapers and found a few that I like on a Brisbane wallpaper shop website but they're so expensive and the wall is so big! I might have to just go with painted stripes or something along those lines. Anyway, just brainstorming for now so here are some images of the possiblities for my blank wall.

[I would love to find Space wallpaper!]
